Candice Villegas is in her first year as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Trinity.
Candice brings a wealth of athletic training experience to campus, from a variety of locations. Most recently, Candice served as an athletic trainer/leisure assistant at the Kingswood Leisure Center. The facility is located in Kingswood, Bristol, England.
At the collegiate level, Candice was an athletic trainer at the University of Texas-El Paso from July 2011 to January 2015. She held an athletic training teaching fellowship at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, from August 2010 to May 2011. From 2006 to 2008, Candice was an athletic trainer at Rice University in Houston, Texas.
Candice spent two years in Japan, as an assistant language teacher. She improved language skills of Japanese students at two secondary schools, and several primary schools. Candice worked for the Shimanto-cho Board of Education, located in Shimanto, Kochi, Japan. Additionally, Candice provided volunteer athletic training services for the amateur Kochi Football Club, and for Sports Day at Kubokawa Junior High School.
Candice’s undergraduate work was completed at Purdue (IN) University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in kinesiology in 2002. Her concentration was in athletic training, and she worked with the Purdue men’s and women’s tennis team, and the football team.
She received a Master of Arts degree in kinesiology from San Diego State University in 2006. Candice had a concentration in biomechanics, and taught an introduction to athletic training laboratory. She directed the care of the women’s volleyball, tennis, and water polo programs.
Candice is a Certified Athletic Trainer by the National Athletic Training Association, and is licensed in the state of Texas. She also holds a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification from the Royal Lifesaving Society in the United Kingdom. Candice is CPR, AED, and first aid certified by the American Heart Association. She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and the Southwest Athletic Trainers Association.
