James Hill is in his 14th year as Assistant to the Director of Athletics.

James has a myriad of duties, including serving as Voice of the Tigers. He announces all intercollegiate events at Trinity. In addition, James coordinates promotional activities for athletics contests, assists in the management of athletics facilities and events, and provides administrative assistance to the Director of Athletics.

A biennial special project is the Trinity Athletic Hall of Fame, which James helps produce. He also is the Bell Athletic Center’s official tour guide. In addition, James assists with special writing assignments.

James joined the Trinity staff – on a full-time basis – in 1989, working in sports information. He worked for four years as Sports Information Officer until 1994, and continued on a part-time basis until his full-time appointment to the staff in 1999.

He has extensive writing and reporting experience, including work for the San Antonio Express-News, the former San Antonio Light, the Associated Press, Reuters, United Press International, USTA Magazine, Golf Week, Big 12 Sports.com and TennisRecruiting.net.

James has announced many sports events, including the NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Soccer Final Fours, the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships, the U.S. Women’s Hard Court Tennis Championships, the Big 12 Soccer Championship, the Under Armour High School All-Star Volleyball Match, and the San Antonio Racquets (World Team Tennis).

He has varied work experience, as a marketing and game-day management representative for the San Antonio Spurs, and administrative work with the San Antonio Tennis Association.

A native of San Antonio, James received the Bachelor of Arts from Trinity in 1976, with a major in speech and drama. He graduated from Texas Military Institute, now TMI-The Episcopal School of Texas, in 1971.
