San Antonio - Trinity has won the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Presidents’ Trophy for the seventh consecutive year.
The Presidents’ Trophy is an impressive 300-pound railroad bell awarded each year to the best overall program in the eight-team conference. The “Bell” is on display in the lobby of Trinity’s William H. Bell Athletic Center.
Trinity finished the 2017-18 season with 500 points, outdistancing second-place Southwestern (TX) University by 100 points. The Tigers won 10 SCAC Championships, beginning with men’s and women’s cross country and men’s and women’s soccer in the fall season. Winter sports championships went to women’s basketball, along with men’s and women’s swimming & diving. Men’s and women’s tennis and women’s track & field won the spring sports titles.
Under the leadership of Director of Athletics Bob King, Trinity has garnered the Presidents’ Trophy a conference-record 18 times, and this year's seventh straight title equals the longest consecutive win streak by one institution in the 56-year history of the award. The Tigers first won the top prize in 1994.
