Former Tiger Players Earn National Football Foundation Honors

San Antonio - Trinity University Tigers football players Nykolas McKissic and Riley Walker have been named to the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society.

The honor society recognizes student-athletes who excel on the football field, in the classroom, and in the community.

McKissic (Pflugerville,TX/Stony Point), a quarterback, and Walker (Austin, TX/Bowie), a wide receiver, are both recent graduates of Trinity.

During the May commencement ceremony, McKissic graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in history, and a minor in African American studies. He also received the Dr. Coleen Grissom Continued Commitment & Dedication Award, which recognizes students for their significant impact on campus. In addition, McKissic was a member of Trinity's Dean's List and the SCAC Academic Honor Roll.

On the field, McKissic was a two-time All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference honoree. In 2011, when the Tigers advanced to the NCAA Division III Playoffs and finished with a 10-1 record, McKissic led the SCAC in passing efficiency (135.70), and was ranked 59th in the nation. He scored 14 passing touchdowns and three in the ground game (1,889 yards of total offense). During the Tigers 7-3 campaign in 2012, McKissic accounted for 12 passing and two rushing touchdowns, with 1,413 yards of total offense..

McKissic will attend the University of Toledo Law School with a full scholarship in the fall.

Walker graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in business administration (marketing concentration), and a minor in sport management. A two-sport student-athlete, Walker earned SCAC Academic Honor Roll honors during the football and track and field seasons.

He snagged 13 passes for 154 yards and a touchdown during the 2012 season, while playing in eight games.  

Walker currently works as marketing administrator for Coldwell Banker Real Estate in Austin.

The Tigers are led by Head Coach Steve Mohr, who completed his 23rd year at the Trinity helm. His overall record of 181-69 tied him for fourth place among active NCAA Division III coaches in victories.
