Paul Michalak has completed eight seasons on the Tiger football staff. In addition to serving as assistant head coach, Coach Michalak also coaches the defensive line. Additionally, Coach Michalak coordinates the Tigers strength and conditioning program. He also is the Tiger football team's academic success coordinator.
Trinity was ranked second in the nation in Red Zone defense, third in rushing defense, seventh in third-down conversion percentage defense, 17th in total defense, and 19th in scoring defense in the 2015 campaign.
Prior to coming on board at Trinity, Coach Michalak spent three seasons at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin, serving as a graduate assistant and as a defensive line coach.
As a player at Carthage, Coach Michalak was a four-year letter winner from 2002-2006, and was a member of the 2004 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championship team that was ranked fifth nationally. That season, Carthage was also the top-ranked defense in the nation.
After finishing his undergraduate studies with a double-major in business administration and marketing, Coach Michalak earned a master’s degree from Carthage in 2009. Coach Michalak worked the inaugural Devin Hester Football Camp in 2008.
Coach Michalak and his wife, Janna, reside in San Antonio. They have two young sons, Liam and Ethan.
