Seguin, Texas - The Trinity men's golf team opened its fall season in fifth place Monday after two rounds of the John Bohmann Memorial Invitational at Starcke Park Municipal Course.
The Tigers finished the first day of the Texas Lutheran-hosted event with a two-round score of 585. Trinity shot a 296 in the opening round, then improved its score by seven strokes in the second.
In a tightly contested tournament, Trinity is just four strokes behind second-place Southwestern (TX) University, and 15 in back of the Concordia (TX) University in first place. Nine teams are competing in the two-day tournament.
Three Tiger golfers stand in the top 20, led by first-year Dawson Dally in a tie for fifth place. Dally posted a 1-over-par 143, carding scores of 71 and 72. Corbin Cormier shot 4-over 146, and is in a tie for the 11th position, rising from a start of 26th place. Peyton Bartee is tied for 17th with a 147.
The tournament's third and final round gets under way Tuesday morning.
