Ross Burt, a former Trinity basketball standout, is in his ninth season as the Tiger men's basketball assistant coach.
Since joining Trinity’s full-time coaching staff in August 2008, Coach Burt, working with head Coach Pat Cunningham, has assisted in guiding the Tigers to four NCAA Division III playoff appearances. Trinity also has captured three Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championships during his tenure. He was a part-time assistant coach during the 2006-07 campaign.
Coach Burt assists in recruiting, on-court coaching, scouting and game preparation, organizing practices, coordinating travel plans, and conducting individual workouts.
The talented Coach Burt was a Tiger player from the 2002-03 through 2005-06 seasons. A team captain, he earned D3hoops.com All-South Region honors, and was elected to the All-SCAC First Team. Coach Burt also scored over 1,000 career points, and was a member of the 2004-05 team which set a school record for victories, with 25. The squad also advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight.
A native of Houston, Texas, Coach Burt earned the Bachelor of Science in accounting from Trinity in 2006, and went on to receive a Master of Science in accounting. Prior to becoming a full-time coach, he was a public accountant at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.
Coach Burt and his wife, Lindsay, reside in San Antonio.
