Trinity Men's Soccer Blanks Centenary to Open SCAC Weekend

Shreveport, Louisiana - The Tiger men's soccer team opened up a weekend of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with a 3-0 shutout at Centenary College on Friday evening.

The game marked the fourth consecutive victory for Trinity, which improved to 9-0-1 overall this season.  The Tigers also stand atop the SCAC standings with a 3-0-0 record.

Trinity led 2-0 at halftime, after both Johnny Lawson and Yuri Ribeiro netted first-half goals.  Lawson scored the eventual game-winner in the 17th minute, and Ribeiro quickly made it a two-goal lead less than four minutes later.

Ribeiro then scored the only goal of the second half, which came with just under four minutes to play in the game.  It marked the third multi-goal game of the season for Ribeiro.

Goalkeeper Matt Cardone recorded four saves to earn his fifth shutout of the season.  He faced just five total shots in the game, while Trinity's offense hammered out 34 total shots - 15 of which were on goal.  The game was Trinity's sixth shutout in 10 games played.

Trinity finishes the SCAC weekend with a Sunday afternoon game at Austin College.  Trinity returns home October 7, facing the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor at 7:00 p.m.
