Tiger Men's Soccer Defeats Mary Hardin-Baylor Sunday Night

San Antonio - Trinity's men's soccer team earned a 3-0 shutout win over the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Sunday night.

The Tigers posted their eighth overall shutout in the victory, including four in the past five games.  Trinity improved to 12-0-1 overall this season, winning for the seventh consecutive time.

Goalkeeper Matt Cardone recorded his seventh individual shutout this season, nabbing five saves to keep UMHB scoreless.  Cardone has gone just over 655 minutes without allowing a goal for the Tigers, dating back to a 1-1 tie against the University of Redlands.

Trinity scored two goals in the first half, netting both in a span of 70 seconds.  Johnny Lawson got the eventual game-winner in the 36th minute, then Tom Carwile quickly made it 2-0 in the 37th minute.  On the Lawson goal, Jeff Hayes and Michael Micheletti both picked up assists, while Victor Araujo got an assist on Carwile's score.

Brian Hines put the finishing touches on the game in the 76th minute, cleaning up a deflected shot off the foot of MJ Kawamoto.  Hines scored his fourth goal of the season, while Carwile is second on the team with five goals.

Trinity resumes Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play this weekend, hosting both Austin College and Centenary College on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
