San Antonio - The second-ranked Trinity men's soccer team will host the first two rounds of the 62-draw NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship on Saturday and Sunday.
Trinity (20-1-0) meets the University of Texas-Tyler (11-3-3) at 5:00 p.m. Saturday in the opening round. UT-Tyler received votes in the United Soccer Coaches Division III Poll. The second game of the day will pit 18th-ranked University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (TX) (15-2-1) against Willamette (OR) University (10-6-2) at 7:30 p.m. The winners advance to Sunday's second-round game with a 7:00 p.m. starting time.
All three games will be broadcast live on the Tiger Network at live.trinity.edu.
The NCAA Sectionals are set for November 17-19, at a site to be determined. The NCAA Semifinals and Final will be held December 1-2 at Greensboro, North Carolina.
Led by 27th-year Head Coach Paul McGinlay, the Tigers are competing in their 21st NCAA Tournament and the 16th in a row. Trinity earned the automatic bid by capturing its 20th Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship. Trinity won the NCAA Division III Championship in 2003, and finished as runner-up in 2007.
Last season, the Tigers hosted the first two rounds and defeated Whitworth (WA) University and Chapman (CA) University. Trinity traveled to Medford, Massachusetts, and lost to Kenyon (OH) College in the third round.
Ticket prices for each day of the weekend games, set by the NCAA, are $6 general admission, $3 for students with I.D. and seniors (age 55 and over), and $2 for children ages 3-12. Tickets may be purchased at the gates, which will open at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.
