San Antonio - Trinity senior defender Brent Mandelkorn has been elected to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 8 Division III Men's Soccer Team.
CoSIDA recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance athletically, and in the classroom. Mandelkorn is now eligible for selection to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team, which is announced December 5.
Mandelkorn is an engineering science major who has qualified for both the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Academic Honor Roll and the Trinity Dean's List.
On the soccer field, Mandelkorn leads a stingy Trinity defense which has produced 12 shutouts and permitted only 13 goals in 21 games this season. Mandelkorn has scored two goals and one assist this season, and was earlier named the SCAC Defensive Player of the Week.
The second-ranked Tigers are on a 15-game winning streak and stand 20-1-0 this season. Trinity recently won its 20th SCAC Championship to gain the league's automatic bid to the program's 21st entry into the NCAA Division III Playoffs. The Tigers have reached the national tournament for 16 consecutive seasons, which is the longest current streak in the nation. Trinity opens up at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 11, against the University of Texas-Tyler. The winner advances to the second round on Sunday at 7:00 p.m.
