Tiger Men's Tennis Wraps Regular Season With Shutout Win

San Antonio - Trinity's men's tennis team scored a 9-0 win over Hardin-Simmons University on Saturday, finishing off the 2012 regular season schedule.

The Tigers improved to 17-7 on the season, having won seven of their past eight matches.  Trinity holds a 10-2 record at home this year, as well as a 14-3 mark against Division III teams.

Max Frey and Erick DelaFuente led Trinity to a 3-0 lead after doubles, taking an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles.  Ben Carroll and Franklin Davis had the closest doubles match of the day, but pulled off an 8-6 victory.  Charlie Curtis and Aaron Skinner won 8-2 at No. 2 doubles.

Frey took a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles, while DelaFuente won 6-1, 6-3 at line two.  Curtis had the most lopsided win with his 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles.  Carroll won 6-3, 6-4 at line four, while Davis took a 6-2, 6-2 win at the sixth position.  Arvind Fernando wrapped up the day's scoring with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 5.

Trinity will begin defense of its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship next weekend, with matchups still to be determined.  Action at the conference tournament will begin on Friday morning (April 27) in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
