Tiger Men's Tennis Defeats Millsaps in SCAC Tournament

North Little Rock, Arkansas - Trinity's men's tennis team opened up the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament with a 9-0 win over Millsaps College on Friday evening.

Trinity moved to 18-7 this season with the win, taking its second consecutive shutout victory in the process.  As the top seed, the Tigers received a bye to open the tournament.  Millsaps defeated Southwestern earlier in the day, advanving to face Trinity.

Everyone in Trinity's lineup for today scored two points to lead the team to victory.  All three doubles teams opened the match with 8-2 victories to take the early advantage.

Max Frey (6-1, 6-1) and Erick DelaFuente (6-3, 6-1) won at the top two singles positions, and the duo teamed up for a doubles win as well.  Aaron Skinner shut out his opponent with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles, while doubles partner Ben Carroll won 6-1, 6-1 at line six.

Charlie Curtis and Jordan Mayer won at No. 2 doubles, and Curtis also took a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles.  Mayer won 6-3, 7-5 to secure his team-leading 13th singles win of the season.

Trinity will play tomorrow in the SCAC Semifinals against Oglethorpe/Hendrix at 11:00 a.m.  The winner moves on to Sunday's SCAC Championship match.  The Tigers are looking to win their third consecutive conference title.
