Wilson Lambeth and Matt Tyer Win ITA Regional Doubles Title

Tyler, Texas - The second-seeded duo of Wilson Lambeth and Matt Tyer captured the ITA Southwest Region Doubles Championship on Monday.

 

SUMMARY

Wilson Lambeth and Matt Tyer defeated the fifth-seeded team of the University of Texas-Tyler's Joey Fischer and Pablo Gomez 4-6, 6-3, 11-9 (Super Tiebreaker) in the championship.

Fifth-seeded Chas Mayer was an ITA Singles finalist, falling to UT-Tyler's Arthur Fagundes 6-2, 6-4 in the championship.

Mayer beat Tiger teammate McKenna Fujitani 6-2, 7-6 (4) the semifinals earlier today.

Austin Crist won the "B Singles" Championship with a 6-3, 6-7 (3), 10-8 victory over UT-Tyler's Ford Cunningham.

 

NOTABLES

Matt Tyer won the ITA Region Doubles title for the second consecutive year. Tyer and former Tiger player Adam Krull went on to capture the 2015 ITA National Small College Championship.

A Trinity men's tandem has won the ITA Region Doubles Championship for the seventh straight time. It also marked the seventh time in a row Head Coach Russell McMindes has mentored a team to the championship.
