#15 Men's Tennis Earns Road Win Over #17 Texas-Tyler

Tyler, Texas - The 15th-ranked Trinity men's tennis team defeated #17 University of Texas-Tyler by a final score of 7-2 on Friday.


HIGHLIGHTS

After losing the first doubles point of the match, the Tigers stormed back to take a 2-1 lead with a pair of 8-6 wins at line one and line three.

Liam Crawley and Jordan Pitts got the scoring started for Trinity at #3 doubles, then Matt Tyer and WIlson Lambeth put Trinity in the lead from the top position.

Crawley and Lambeth won #4 and #2 singles, respectively, to put the Tigers ahead 4-1 at the time.

Chas Mayer fell short at #1 singles to keep Tyler in the match, but McKenna Fujitani won 6-3, 6-7, 6-2 to clinch the Tiger victory.

Trinity finished the match strong, as Pitts also won a three-set match at line three singles, and Tilden Oliver rallied after dropping the opening set to take a three-setter as well.

The Tigers upped their record to 10-9, while UT-Tyler dropped to 12-5.

The Tigers close out their road trip on Sunday, taking on 13th-ranked Whitman (WA) College at 11:00 a.m.  in Tyler.
