San Antonio - The Trinity softball team lost both games of a doubleheader 9-0 against defending national champion and top-ranked University of Texas-Tyler on Tuesday.

Tyler got on the board in the second inning of the opening game by pairing two hits with a Tiger error, and nabbing two unearned runs.

After single runs in the third and fourth, the Patriots then added two more in the fifth to go ahead 6-0.  Tyler then had five hits in the sixth inning to score three runs, setting up the run-rule.

Game two's scoring also started in the second, as Tyler scored four runs on four hits to take the early advantage.  The Patriots added two more runs in the third, then finished off with a three-run fifth.

Trinity's offense was limited to just one hit in each game.

The Tigers have started the season at 0-4, while Texas-Tyler remains undefeated with a 10-0 mark.

Rebecca Berreth had Trinity's only hit in the opening game, while Rylie Goldwait scored an infield single in the second game.
