San Antonio - Trinity senior Rebecca Berreth has earned Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball Offensive Player of the Week accolades for the second consecutive time.
The Tiger shortstop paced Trinity to a home-opening doubleheader sweep of Concordia (TX) University last weekend. Trinity won the first game 6-4, and dramatically took the second 6-5 in an eight-inning matchup.
Berreth batted 3-6 in the twinbill, while driving in five runs. She also cracked a triple and a double in the course of the day.
In the opener, Berreth popped a double to center field, which scored two runs and tied the game. Berreth cleaned out the bases in the second game with a triple to right field in the sixth inning to tie the contest at 4-4.
The hot-hitting Berreth is sporting a batting average of .565, going 13-23 at the plate this season. Berreth is tops on the team with six doubles, two triples, 11 RBI, and 26 total bases. She also has scored six runs and cracked a homer during the early stages of the campaign.
The Tiger team is also off to a hot start, as Trinity is undefeated at 6-0. Up next for the Tigers will be a road doubleheader February 20 at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (TX).
