San Antonio – The Tiger men's and women's track & field teams opened up the 2018 indoor season at the Leonard Hilton Invitational on Friday.
Facing off against mostly Division I and Division II competition, junior Blair Walker finished in the top 10 in both the 200 meter dash and the 400 meter dash.
First-year Seve Rodriguez also had a solid outing in his first collegiate competition, finishing eighth in the 400 meter dash and 11th in the 200.
Senior Britney Sullivan was a top-10 finisher in both the long jump and the triple jump. Sullivan has qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships in the triple jump for the past two seasons, as well as competing at Outdoor Nationals each of her first three years with the Tigers.
Nkolika Nweke raced to the finish in less than eight seconds to finish 21st in the 60 meter dash, while Abigail Schneebeck was 11th in the 60 meter hurdles. Andy Garza had a ninth-place finish in the 400 meter dash.
After a week off, the Tigers resume their indoor season at the Houston Invitational on Friday and Saturday, January 26 and 27.
