Women's Basketball Defeats Dallas to Snap Five-Game Losing Streak

Irving, Texas - Trinity junior forward Abby Dietert (Cibolo, Texas/Steele) scored 24 points to lead the Tiger women to a 71-62 non-conference victory over the University of Dallas at Maher Athletic Center on Tuesday night.
 
The Tigers snapped a five-game losing streak and improved to 2-5 on the year. Dallas, which will join Trinity next fall as a member of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, dropped to 2-5.
 
Dietert shot 9-13 from the field, sank 6-8 free throws, grabbed seven rebounds, and made three steals.
 
Senior guard Danielle Hubenak (San Antonio/Churchill) added 18 points, on 6-11 shooting from the field, and 4-8 in 3-point range. Hubenak also dished out three assists, made four rebounds, and accounted for three steals.
 
Rebounding was the name of the game for the Tigers, highlighted by a double-double from sophomore post Jana Tucker (Katy, Texas/Seven Lakes). Tucker scored 13 points and pulled in 19 rebounds, as well as making three steals.  Overall, the Tigers outrebounded Dallas 49-30, and led 18-11 in offensive boards.
 
Trinity led 35-27 at halftime, shooting 43 percent to 32 percent.  For the game the Tigers hit 44.2 percent (23-52), and the Lady Crusaders shot 37.7 percent (23-61).
 
 The Tigers return home to host the Trinity Christmas Classic Dec. 28-29.
