Women's Golf Fifth After Day Two at SCAC Championships

Tunica, Mississippi - The Tiger women's golf team moved up to fourth place after the second round at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships.

The Tigers shot a second-round 338 despite windy conditions at the Tunica National Golf Course, which was just two strokes higher than their score of 336 yesterday.  The Tigers trail fourth place Rhodes by two strokes, and are just three back of Southwestern in third place.  Centre is leading the event by 17 strokes, followed by Birmingham-Southern.

Molly McCarthy leads Trinity with a combined score of 166, and is tied for 11th after the second round of action.  All five of the Tiger golfers are in the top 25 individually. 

Madison Wallender (84-84, tied for 13th) and Molly Zumbro (88-82, tied for 17th) are both in the top 20.  Julia Orrange is tied for 21st after shooting 173 so far in the tournament, and Alessa Hutter knocked five strokes off of her first-round score to shoot 86 on Saturday.

Trinity has a combined score of 674 so far, and the eight-team tournament will conclude with the third round tomorrow.
