Peoria, Arizona - The Trinity women's golf team is tied for fifth place after shooting an opening-round score of 318 at the George Fox Westrbook Invitational on Saturday.
The Tigers are tied for fifth with the University of Redlands (CA) at the tournament being held at the par-71 Westbrook Village Golf Course Lakes Course. The University of Texas-Tyler leads the event with a 299.
Shelby DeVore and Emilee Strausburg each shot a 6-over 77 in the first round, locking the Trinity golfers in a six-way tie for eighth place individually. The Tiger duo is just four strokes behind the leaders.
Playing as an individual in this weekend's tournament, Elizabeth McGillivray is tied for 17th place after shooting an 8-over 79.
Trinity will finish off the six-team tournament on Sunday.
