Women's Soccer Records Shutout Win Over Greenville

San Antonio - The 10th-ranked Trinity Tigers women's soccer team shut out the Greenville (Ill.) Panthers 9-0 on Monday.
 
Trinity (3-0-0) was paced by junior midfielder Samantha Atkins and first-year forward Stephanie Segovia, who scored two goals each.
 
First on the board was senior forward Abigail Loar, on an assist by first-year midfielder Hannah Kuhl, in the 16th minute of play. Atkins scored her first goal of the day in the 26th minute, assisted by junior midfielder Lauren Henderson, and first-year defender Lauren Krummel.
 
Emily Jorgens, a first-year midfielder, gave Trinity a 3-0 lead, with a goal in the 29th minute. Sophomore forward Shelby Guenthardt and sophomore midfielder Tara Sparks chalked up the assists.
 
Junior forward Annie Kendzior put a solo shot past the goalie in the 43rd minute, putting the Tigers ahead 4-0 at halftime.
 
Atkins opened up the second half with her second goal in the 57th minute, and Jorgens was credited with the assist. Sophomore midfielder Michelle Lanier scored four minutes later. First-year forward Stephanie Segovia had back-to-back goals, in the 69th and 77 minutes. Jorgens amassed her second assist, as did Guenthardt, on the respective goals. Guenthardt wrapped up the scoring in the 83rd minute, and Sparks dished out her second assist.
 
The Tigers will next host Schreiner at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday night.
