Tiger Women's Soccer Posts Shutout Win at Centenary

Shreveport, Louisiana - Trinity's women's soccer team posted a 10-0 shutout victory at Centenary College on Friday night, opening a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference weekend of play.

The Tigers had two players score hat tricks in the game, which is the second straight season that the team has accomplished that feat.  This time around, it was Emily Jorgens and Stephanie Segovia with three goals each.  It marks the fourth career hat trick for Segovia, and her first this season.  Jorgens also added two assists for a total of eight points in the game.

Jorgens opened the scoring with the eventual game-winner in the fourth minute of play, followed by a pair of goals from Segovia.  Trinity led just 3-0 at the half, then exploded with seven more goals in the final 45 minutes.

Robin Lipinski got things going just over four minutes into the second half, as Jorgens recorded her first assist.  Jorgens then netted her second goal in the 50th minute, on an assist from Kelsey Falcone.

Segovia reached three goals first, scoring in the 71st minute, but Jorgens followed suit four minutes later with her second unassisted goal of the game.

Shelby Hopkins had one goal and two assists, while Lauren Henderson closed out the scoring in the 86th minute.  Emily Donnan also had a second-half goal, while Carly Kocel and Michelle Lanier both added assists.

Goalkeeper Katie Garrett played the first half of the game for the Tigers, while Devan Osegueda and Lauren Goldberg finished off the shutout.  Trinity's defense gave up just one shot in the game, while the offense tallied a staggering 57 shots.

Trinity continues its SCAC weekend with a game at Austin College on Sunday afternoon.  Next weekend, the Tigers are back on the road for a pair of non-conference games against Wheaton (IL) and Loras.
