Seguin, Texas - The third-ranked Trinity women's soccer team clinched the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season championship with a 3-0 shutout win at Texas Lutheran University on Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers scored all three of their goals in the first half, and held the Bulldogs to just two shots in the entire game.
Taylor then assisted on the next goal several minutes later, as Nicole Gardini made it 2-0 with a score from 10 yards out.
The Tigers remained undefeated with a 16-0-0 overall record, and a 10-0-0 mark in the SCAC. Texas Lutheran dropped to 6-4-4 and 4-3-3.
Today's win clinches the regular season SCAC Championship for Trinity, and the Tigers will also be the top seed at the SCAC Tournament. The tournament will be held November 4-6 in Kerrville, Texas, and hosted by Schreiner University.
Yasmeen Farra scored her team-leading 11th goal of the season, and she has now produced a team-high five game-winners.
Brigitte Taylor leads the Tigers with nine assists. She now has 27 career assists, and is one away from breaking into the top 10 all-time at Trinity.
The Tigers will wrap up their regular-season schedule with a pair of SCAC road games next weekend. Trinity travels to Kerrville, Texas, Friday, to take on Schreiner University at 3:00 p.m. Next Sunday, the Tigers will play in Irving, Texas, against the University of Dallas at 1:00 p.m.
