Second-Ranked Women's Soccer Shuts Out Schreiner

Kerrville, Texas - The second-ranked Trinity women's soccer team shut out Schreiner (TX) University 5-0 in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match-up on Friday afternoon.



Jordan Leeper opened the scoring less than a minute into the game for the Tigers, and it would prove to be the only goal Trinity needed for the win.  

Yasmeen Farra provided the assist on the eventual game-winner, then added a goal later in the first half to put the Tigers ahead 3-0 at halftime.  Chelsea Cole assisted on Farra's score.

Nicole Gardini also scored in the opening period, converting in the 12th minute on an assist from Meredith Licata.

Early in the second period, Licata got a goal of her own, and Farra chalked up her second assist of the day to make it 4-0.

The final goal of the game came in the 78th minute, courtesy of the tandem of Katie Peth and Halleanne Dure.



Trinity remained undefeated with a 17-0-0 overall record, and an 11-0-0 mark in the SCAC. The Mountaineers dropped to 8-7-3 and 6-5-1. 

Janie Thompson and Kalli Douma combined for the shutout on Friday, which marks the 13th of the season for the Tiger team.

Jordan Leeper had her second goal of the season, and her first game-winner of the campaign.

Yasmeen Farra improved her team-leading total to 12 goals this season, and she has now recorded six assists for a team-best 30 points.

Meredith Licata scored her seventh goal of the year for the Tigers, while Chelsea Cole supplied her sixth assist.

Nicole Gardini's goal was her third of the season, while Katie Peth knocked in her second score of 2016.



The Tigers conclude their regular-season schedule Sunday, in Irving, Texas. Trinity takes on the University of Dallas in an SCAC game at 1:00 p.m.
