#2 Trinity Women's Soccer Wraps Regular Season With Shutout

Irving, Texas - The second-ranked Tiger women's soccer team wrapped up its regular-season campaign with an 8-0 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference shutout of the University of Dallas on Sunday afternoon.

 

MATCH SUMMARY

Trinity led 2-0 less than 15 minutes into the game, as Yasmeen Farra and Chelsea Cole put the Tigers on the board.  Julia Camp and Nicole Gardini picked up assists on the scoring plays, and those were the final scores of the opening period.

The Tigers doubled the lead just 3:35 after the break, with Camp taking an assist from Cole for the initial goal.  Julia Kelly made it 4-0 with an unassisted goal just over a minute later.

It was then that Tierney Thomison took over the game, having a hand in all four of Trinity's remaining scores.  She scored a hat trick in the game, as well as assisting on another goal.  

Gardini picked up her second assist of the day on Thomison's first goal in the 61st minute, which was followed less than two minutes later with Thomison providing an assist for Meredith Licata's goal.

Thomison had an unassisted goal in the 68th minute, then finished the scoring with just 1:16 remaining on the clock - assisted by Katie Peth.

 

NOTABLES

Trinity concluded its undefeated regular season with an 18-0-0 overall record, and a 12-0-0 mark in the SCAC. Dallas dropped to 4-13-2 and 1-9-2. 

Tiger goalkeepers Kalli Douma and Janie Thompson combined for the team's third consecutive clean-sheet game, as well as the 14th overall shutout this season.

Tierney Thomison had the first hat trick of her career, and has jumped up to nine goals scored this year.  

The hat trick by Thomison also keeps a streak alive for Trinity, which has now scored at least one hat trick in eight consecutive seasons.

Yasmeen Farra increased her team lead to 13 goals and six game-winning goals, as well as tallying a team-best 33 points scored.

Julia Camp is right on Farra's heels in the scoring department, picking up her 11th goal and eighth assist of the season.

Meredith Licata registered her eighth goal of the year, while Julia Kelly tallied her sixth.  Chelsea Cole now has seven assists for the Tigers.

 

UP NEXT

The top-seeded Tigers head for Kerrville, Texas, and the SCAC Tournament. Awarded a first-round bye, Trinity will play in the semifinals at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, against the winner of host Schreiner University and Centenary (LA) College. The championship game is slated for next Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
