#14 Tiger Women's Soccer Finishes SCAC Weekend Sweep

Sherman, Texas - The 14th-ranked Trinity women's soccer team wrapped up its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference road swing with a 9-0 shutout of Austin College Sunday afternoon.

 

MATCH SUMMARY

The potent Tiger offense was on display from the start, as Trinity scored five goals in the first half - including three scores in the first 13 minutes of action.

Meredith Licata scored the eventual game-winner on a header in the seventh minute, assisted by Hannah Booher.

Licata and Madee Gallagher teamed up to find Julia Kelly in the 12th minute to make it 2-0.

Chelsea Cole headed in a cross from Colleen Markey less than two minutes later, and the Tiger offense was off and running.

Julia Camp scored again in the 26th minute, burying a loose ball in the box into the back of the net.

With just over seven minutes left before halftime, Cole knocked in her second goal of the half on a double-assist from Kristen Canepa and Lilah Bevins to give Trinity a 5-0 halftime lead.

Licata punched in the ball from six yards out in the 56th minute, as Camp and Emily Welp provided the assists.

Abby Blackwood buried a 20-yard shot in the 71st minute to make it a 7-0 Tiger lead on a helper from Markey.

Blackwood then assisted Halleanne Dure on the next Trinity score, which was a shot from 15 yards out in the middle of the field in the 76th minute.

Hannah Bishop capped the prolific offensive outing for the Tigers in the 88th minute, scoring from 22 yards out.

 

NOTABLES

The Tigers won their ninth straight game, and chalked up their seventh clean-sheet matchup of the campaign.

Trinity stands at 9-1-0 overall and 5-0-0 in SCAC play, while Austin College dropped to 3-7-0 and 2-4-0 SCAC.

The taut Tiger defense permitted the Kangaroos only three shots, and did not allow a shot on the mark. Trinity held a 35-3 overall advantage in shots.

Meredith Licata now has six goals this season, along with her first game-winner.

Julia Camp is in sole possession of eighth place on Trinity's career list with 39 goals.

Chelsea Cole moved into the team lead with her 11th and 12th goals of the season. Cole has amassed 24 goals in her career, and is tied for 25th place.

Halleanne Dure notched her 11th goal of the year, and is just behind Cole for the team lead.

Hannah Booher is tops in assists with 11, while Colleen Markey has eight. Markey has produced 28 career assists and is tied for the #9 position.
