San Antonio - The Trinity women's soccer team moved up two positions to a national ranking of ninth by the final regular-season United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Poll.
Led by second-year Head Coach Dylan Harrison, the Tigers stand at 18-1-0, and are on an 18-game winning streak. Trinity is ranked second in the NCAA West Region, behind Hardin-Simmons (TX) University, which also moved to third nationally from the #5 slot.
Last week, the Tigers captured their ninth consecutive Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship, and 22nd overall. Trinity first blanked host Centenary College 5-0 in the Semifinals at Shreveport, Louisiana, and battled Austin (TX) College to a 1-0 decision in the Championship.
This weekend in Abilene, Texas, the Tigers begin competition in their 23rd NCAA Division III Tournament, and ninth in a row. First up is a pairing with #21 University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (TX) at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Hardin-Simmons. The Cowgirls take on Methodist (NC) University in the other first-round matchup. The second round will be played at 1:00 p.m. Sunday.
The NCAA Sectionals will be held November 17-19 at a site to be determined. The Semifinals and Final will take place December 1-2 at Greensboro, North Carolina.
Trinity is ranked #1 in the nation in scoring offense, save percentage, assists per game, points per game, goals scored, and shots per game. Hannah Booher and Colleen Markey are ranked fourth and sixth, respectively, in assists. Goalkeeper Kalli Douma's 0.248 goals-against average is the eighth-best in Division III.
