Women's Tennis Falls in Non-Division III Matches
San Antonio - The Tiger women's tennis team lost a pair of matches outside of Division III on Saturday, losing 8-1 against the University of Central Oklahoma and 7-2 against Oklahoma Christian University.
Trinity fell to 14-7 this season with the losses, though the Tigers are 12-3 against Division III opponents. The losses also snapped a six-match winning streak for Trinity.
Mackenzie Knoop took Trinity's lone win in the opening match against Central Oklahoma, scoring a 7-6, 7-5 victory at No. 1 singles. Knoop and Thavindra Ekanayake teamed up at No. 1 doubles, but fell 8-5.
Also in doubles, the teams of Katie Griffith/Kylie Hornbeck and Stephanie Williamson/Kassie Seger both suffered 8-6 losses. Hornbeck went three sets in her singles loss, falling 7-5, 5-7, 7-10 at No. 4 singles.
In the Oklahoma Christian match, Trinity's lone points came via defaults, as the visitors featured just five total players.
Ekanayake and Griffith both forced a third set in their singles matches, but Ekanayake lost 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2, and Griffith fell 0-6, 6-4, 3-6 at line three.
Trinity concludes its regular season schedule by hosting Hardin-Simmons University next Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
