Trinity’s Kutach Selected for NCAA Women’s Singles Tournament

San Antonio - Trinity's Caroline Kutach has been selected for the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Singles Championship, to be held May 24-26 at Claremont, California.

The Trinity junior will represent the Tigers at the 32-draw championship. Kutach will mark her first appearance in the NCAA Division III Singles Championship event.

Kutach was earlier elected the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Year, while earning a slot on the All-SCAC Team for the third consecutive time. She is ranked fourth in the West Region in singles and has amassed a 14-6 record at the #1 position.

Led by fourth-year Head Coach Gretchen Rush, the 20th-ranked Tigers open play Friday in the NCAA Team Championship second round at Claremont. Trinity plays seventh-ranked Pomona-Pitzer (CA) Colleges at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time. The third-ranked host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CA) Colleges meets the winner of #27 Whitman (WA) College and 37th-ranked University of Texas-Tyler in the other second-round matchup.

Saturday's third-round match at 10:00 a.m. will decide which team will advance to the NCAA quarterfinals May 21 at Claremont. The semifinals and finals are scheduled for May 22-23.
