He was a First Team All-Heartland Conference player, and made Second Team All-Region in doubles, at the NCAA Division II institution.
Coach McMindes won the Intercollegiate Tennis Association West Region Assistant Coach of the Year award for both the men's and women's teams. He received the honor as men’s assistant in 2011, and repeated the feat in 2012 for his leadership with the Trinity women.
