San Antonio - The Tiger volleyball team earned a 3-0 sweep of Concordia (TX) University in the final regular season home match of the 2012 season on Wednesday evening.
Trinity improved to 16-13 this season with the win, which was the fifth straight Tiger victory. Trinity won 25-13, 25-14, and 25-22, recording the team's fifth sweep in the last eight matches.
Jana Tucker led a strong Tiger offense with 15 kills and a .500 hitting percentage on Wednesday. Tucker also added three digs and three blocks to go with her season-best total in kills.
Maggie Emodi also reached double figures with 10 kills and a .360 hitting percentage, while Kelsey Daniel finished with seven kills and a .429 percentage. Emodi also turned in the night's only double-double, adding a team-best 13 digs and three blocks. Daniel led the Tigers with seven blocks in the match, while Allison Martinez grabbed four blocks.
Layne Hubbard led Trinity with two service aces, and added 12 digs and five kills. Maryn Swierc had 38 assists in just three sets, as well as posting eight digs and three blocks. Meredith Erwin and Mia Mineghino had six digs each for the Tigers.
Trinity will conclude the regular season this weekend at the Southwestern Invitational. The Tigers will face Hardin-Simmons and St. Thomas on Friday, followed by matches against UT-Dallas and Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday.
