Belton, Texas – Head Coach Julie Jenkins reached a career milestone as the third-ranked Tiger volleyball team won a pair of road matches on Friday.
Coach Jenkins earned her 900th career victory with Friday afternoon's 3-0 win over Sul Ross State (TX) University. She is one of just seven coaches – in any NCAA Division – to produce 900 wins, and she is currently first among active Division III coaches in victories.
Coach Jenkins is just the third coach in Division III history to reach the milestone.
Trinity opened the day by blitzing Sul Ross in a sweep, winning 25-13, 25-14, and 25-11, which marked the milestone victory for Coach Jenkins.
The Tigers hit better than .400 in all three sets against the Lobos, while also holding Sul Ross under a .200 hitting percentage in each set.
The second match of the day against hosting University of Mary Hardin-Baylor was much tighter, though the Tigers prevailed 3-1 (25-14, 22-25, 25-23, and 25-17).
Trinity improves its overall record to 18-3 on the season, having won 13 of the last 14 matches.
Kirby Smith posted 17 kills in the two matches today, moving up to 10th in Trinity history with 1,232 kills in her career. She was the lone Tiger to score a double-double against UMHB, finishing with 11 kills and 14 digs.
Lindsey Lubianski led Trinity in kills in both matches, accumulating 21 kills and just four errors on 34 attempts.
Sarah Mullens piled up 38 total digs on the day, including 21 digs in just three sets against Sul Ross. With 1,254 total digs, Mullens has moved into the top 20 all-time at Trinity.
Trinity will take on NCAA Division II team St. Mary's (TX) University on Wednesday, October 11, at 6:00 p.m.
