Trinity Cross Country Competes at Incarnate Word Invite

San Antonio – Trinity men's and women's cross country competed with partial squads at the University of Incarnate Word Invitational on Saturday morning.

 

HIGHLIGHTS

Trinity's women finished third among non-Division I teams with 76 points, finishing behind two Division II schools in St. Edward's (TX) University and Texas A&M International University.

Four Tiger women's runners placed in the top 20 individually, led by first-year Mabel Fowler's 12th-place finish in just her second collegiate 6k race.

Junior Meghan Mardashti finished 14th with a time of 25:18.1, which is nearly a minute faster than her time at last weekend's Abilene Christian University Invitational.

Juniors Allison Hill (16th) and Samantha Simank (18th) rounded out Trinity's runners in the top 20, while first-year runners Maria Nowlin and Laurel Daughtrey were both in the top 30.

On the men's side, the Tigers were sixth among non-Division I schools, scoring 157 points as a team.

First-years Jack Powers and David Buss led Trinity's runners in 29th and 31st place, respectively.

 

UP NEXT

The full Tiger teams will be back in action on Saturday, October 14, at Pre-Nationals in Elsah, Illinois. The men's race begins at 11:00 a.m., followed by the women's competition at 12:15 p.m.
