Trinity Cross Country Competes at Incarnate Word Invite

San Antonio – Trinity men's and women's cross country competed with partial squads at the University of Incarnate Word Invitational on Saturday morning.

Trinity's women finished third among non-Division I teams with 76 points, finishing behind two Division II schools in St. Edward's (TX) University and Texas A&M International University.

Four Tiger women's runners placed in the top 20 individually, led by first-year Mabel Fowler's 12th-place finish in just her second collegiate 6k race.

Junior Meghan Mardashti finished 14th with a time of 25:18.1, which is nearly a minute faster than her time at last weekend's Abilene Christian University Invitational.

Juniors Allison Hill (16th) and Samantha Simank (18th) rounded out Trinity's runners in the top 20, while first-year runners Maria Nowlin and Laurel Daughtrey were both in the top 30.

On the men's side, the Tigers were sixth among non-Division I schools, scoring 157 points as a team.

First-years Jack Powers and David Buss led Trinity's runners in 29th and 31st place, respectively.

The full Tiger teams will be back in action on Saturday, October 14, at Pre-Nationals in Elsah, Illinois. The men's race begins at 11:00 a.m., followed by the women's competition at 12:15 p.m.
