Bryant Wright and junior Caitlin Masse will compete Saturday at the NCAA
Division III Women's and Men's Cross Country Championships on
Saturday at Highland Hills, Ohio.
A total of 279 runners in each race will vie for a top 35
individual finish, which will give them All-American honors at the
national event. The race is hosted by Baldwin-Wallace College.
Masse, from Katy, Texas (Cinco Ranch), will run in the women's
6k race starting at 11 a.m. Eastern Time at Highland Hills Golf
Club. Wright, from Tulsa, Okla.(Holland Hall), is a competitor in
the men's 8k event at noon Eastern.
Masse captured the NCAA South/Southeast Regional last Saturday,
with a time of 22:56 at Greensboro, N.C. She also earned
All-Region honors following her course-breaking time on the
Guilford College route. Last year, Masse finished 152nd at the NCAA
meet with a time of 22:54 for the 6k course helping Trinity to its
highest finish in school history.
Wright finished seventh at the Regional meet, clocking in at
27:21 - one second behind the sixth-place runner - and picked
up All-Region recognition. He is making his second straight trip to
the NCAA Championships. Last year, Bryant finished 71st with a time
of 25:22 for the 8k course.
The Tiger men and women are coached by Jenny Breuer, who guided
her women's team to a sixth-place finish at the 2008 NCAA
Championships.
