San Antonio - Trinity University Tigers sophomore Maddie Murphy (Friendswood, Texas/Friendswood) has been selected as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week.
 
Murphy placed seventh last Saturday in the TLU (Texas Lutheran University) Preview Meet at Seguin, with a time of 18:19 in the 5k race. Her performance places her second in the Trinity record books for the 5k competition. She was the first non-NCAA Division I runner to cross the finish line. Murphy's time was also a 20-second personal best for the 5k run.
 
Both the Tiger men and women finished third in the team competition.
 
Trinity, led by head Coach Jenny Breuer, will next compete Sept. 24 at the Texas Little State Championships in Abilene.
