Box Score Leading the
way for the class is Taylor Piske from J.J.
Pearce in Richardson, Texas. He comes to Trinity with personal
bests of 9:49 in the 3,200m in track, and 15:50 for 5,000m in cross
country. He was also a district champion during his senior
cross country campaign. Another first-year to look out for is
All-State Cross Country runner Phillip Flagg from
St. Michael's Catholic Academy in Austin, Texas. He comes in with a
16:46 5,000m cross country best, and a time of 10:18 for the
3,200m. Christian Soto, who hails from El Paso, TX, will
also be in the hunt for a varsity spot in the 2012 season. He holds
personal bests of 4:38 for 1600m, and 10:17 for the 3,200m.
On the women's side Mariana Sigala, from
Hays High School in Kyle, Texas, comes in with a blazing 800m time
of 2:17, and an impressive best of 11:34 for the 3,200m in cross
country. She was a state finalist during the 2011-12 season in both
cross country and track. Another first-year that will add depth to
the women's side is local standout Marcella Reyes, who
hails from Antonian College Preparatory High School. She brings in
times of 5:25 for the 1,600m, and 12:01 for 3,200m. Reyes helped
lead Antonian to three Texas Association of Private and Parochial
Schools (TAPPS) State Cross Country Championship titles.
Other first-years include Rudy Esparaza and Ryan Pavlich of San
Antonio, Austin's Ingrid Harb, Omaha's Sam Lee, South Pasenda's
Mary Claire Molina, Seguin's Tyler Quiros, Longmont's Mariah Wahl, Portland's
Brandon
Wilson, and Edmond's Zachary
Wilson.
