Box Score Austin, Texas - The Tiger men's and
women's cross country teams overcame wet and muddy conditions to
finish second in the non-Division I standings at Saturday's Grass
Routes Run Festival.
Trinity's women scored 42 points to earn their second place
finish, while the men's team came in with 53 points to finish
second among non-Division I opponents. Both teams had two
individuals finish in the top five.
Robert Edmonds and Sal Perdomo came in fourth and fifth on the
men's side, clocking in just nine seconds apart in the race.
Francisco Escobedo was 11th individually, while Taylor Piske
(13th) and Gerardo Hernandez (20th) also finished in the top
20.
Vanessa Moreno was second in 19:57.9 for the Tigers, while
Maddie Murphy was just 11 seconds behind in fourth place.
Jessica Pagano also earned a top 10 finish with her time of
20:23, while Jackie Newell (14th) and Jessie Dean (15th) earned
spots in the top 15. All five Tiger runners finished in under
21 minutes.
Trinity will be back in action October 6, as the teams will
compete in two different events. Some Tiger runners will race
in the Gibson Family Pre-Nationals meet in Terre Haute, Indiana,
while others will be at the UIW Invitational in San Antonio.
It will be the team's last tune-up before the SCAC
Championships in Irving, Texas, on October 27.
