San Antonio - Tiger cross country runners Chris Soto and Maddie Murphy have been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's and Women's Cross Country Runners of the Week.

Both student-athletes had excellent performances at last Friday's UTSA Ricardo Romo Classic in San Antonio. They led the Tiger men and women to team titles in the non-Division I category of the meet, held at the National Shooting Complex.

Soto (El Paso, TX/Horizon), a sophomore, placed fifth among non-Division I men's runners in the 5k race, with a time of 16:49.5.

Murphy (Friendswood, TX/Friendswood), a senior, won the individual championship among non-Division I entries. Despite running against Division I competitors, Murphy placed fifth overall in the 5k event, clocking in at 18:31.3. Murphy's closest non-Division I runners finished 30 seconds behind her.

Trinity's teams will host the Alamo City Duals on Saturday, Oct. 5, at San Antonio's Olmos Basin Fields.
