The Trinity Tigers women's cross country team placed
second among non-Division I team, and the men's squad
finished fourth Saturday at the University of the Incarnate Word
Invitational.
Trinity's women scored 62 points in the
13-team non-Division I 6k meet held at soggy Live Oak City Park.
The Tigers were just seven points behind first-place Texas Wesleyan
University. The Tiger men amassed 98 points, behind Tarleton State
University, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, and Texas Wesleyan
University. A total of 14 teams competed in the non-Division I 8k
event.
Tiger women's senior Nicola Hill finished
18th overall, and sixth in the non-Division I pool, clocking in at
24:07.3. First-year runner Melissa Whitman came in at No. 25 in the
overall standings, and eighth among non-Division I competitors,
with a time of 24:22.4. Senior Michelle Oberndorf placed 38th
overall, and 14th in the non-DI, at 25:00.2
Junior Taylor Piske finished ninth overall in
the men's field, and fourth in non-Division I, at 25:06.7.
Sophomore Austin Brown placed 41st and 18th, respectively, crossing
the finish line in 26:32.5.
Both Tiger teams will compete next Saturday at the Concordia
University Invitational at Cedar Park, Texas.
