Box Score Round Rock, Texas - The Trinity
men's cross country team won the Concordia Texas Invitational
on Saturday, while the Tiger women placed second at Old Settlers
Park.
Trinity's men captured the 5,000 meters team
title with 19 points, outdistancing host Concordia University (66),
Texas Lutheran University (69), Southwestern University (111), Sul
Ross State University (141), and Huston-Tillotson College
(142).
The Tiger women (32 points) did finish as
runners-up in the 5,000 meters race, but only NCAA Division I
member Rice University was able to outscore Trinity with 26 points.
Trinity placed ahead of Texas Lutheran (96), Southwestern (103),
Concordia (106), Sul Ross (159), and Schreiner University
(181).

Three Trinity runners held the Nos. 2-4
positions in the men's meet, behind unattached participant
Angel Ramirez (15:54.56). Taylor Piske (16:10.61) finished second,
Michael Erickson (16:29.82) was third, and Austin Brown (16:33.56)
came in at No. 4. Rounding out the top 10 were Daniel Henkes
(seventh place, 16:52.00), Christian Soto (eighth place, 16:59.08),
and Jacob Hammond (10th place, 17:06.98).
Four Tiger competitors were top 10 finishers in
the women's event. Michelle Oberndorf (19:22.29) placed
fourth, and Melissa Whitman (19:34.24) was No. 5. Nicola Hill
(19:46.87) had a seventh-place performance, while Emma MacEachern
(19:51.33) was No. 8.
Eleanor Wardleworth of Rice (18:42.55) led the
group of Owls runners who held the first three slots.
Trinity's teams will defend their Southern
Collegiate Athletic Conference titles by hosting the SCAC
Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships on
Saturday, November 1, in Boerne, Texas.
