San Antonio - Trinity Tigers first-year student-athlete Michael Erickson has been selected as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week.

Erickson and his Tiger teammates won the team title October 18 of the Concordia Texas Invitational at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, Texas. Trinity won the 5,000 meters event with 19 points, outdistancing host Concordia University by 47 points. Texas Lutheran University placed third, followed by Southwestern University, Sul Ross State University, and Huston-Tillotson College.

In the individual results, Erickson finished third, crossing the finish line in 16:29.82. Three Trinity runners held the Nos. 2-4 positions in the meet.

Erickson has been a solid performer in the Tiger men's two  team victories this season. In addition to winning the Concordia meet, Trinity captured the non-Division I title in August at its Alamo City Opener.

Trinity's men and women will defend their titles November 1 by hosting the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships at Boerne, Texas.
