Box Score San Antonio - The Trinity University Tigers men's and women's cross country teams kicked off the 2015 campaign with team and individual victories at their Alamo City Opener on Tuesday morning.
Trinity's men scored 15 points in the 5k run, beating Texas Lutheran University, which registered 50 points. The Tiger women also chalked up 15 points in the 5k event, defeating Texas Lutheran and Our Lady of the Lake University, with 61 and 63 points, respectively.

Tiger newcomer Molly McCullough took individual women's honors, clocking in at 19:41.46. The Tigers top five runners finished within 30 seconds of each other. Sophomore Emma MacEachern was runner-up to McCullough, just a second and change behind, at 19:42.78. First-year Allison Hill was third, at 19:48.65, sophomore Melissa Whitman was fourth, at 20:00.88, and first-year Samantha Simank came in at No. 6, with a time of 20:12.38.
Veteran Taylor Piske started the new season with a win in the men's race. The Tiger senior posted a time of 16:10.76. Junior Austin Brown was the No. 2 finisher at 16:23.19, and first-year runner Oliver Langselius placed third, at 16:27.46. Sophomore Jacob Hammond claimed the No. 5 slot, crossing the line in 16:35.23, and first-year Tiger Elliot Blake was sixth, registering a 16:45.44.
Trinity will next compete September 12 at the Our Lady of the Lake Collegiate Cross Country Invitational. The event will be held at Windcrest Golf Club, at Windcrest, Texas, a suburb of San Antonio.
