Box Score San Antonio - The Trinity cross country program has been honored by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association as Division III All-Academic Teams.
The Tiger women posted a cumulative grade point average of 3.46, and the men registered a mark of 3.11 last fall. For a team to be considered, it must have competed and compiled a team score at a NCAA Regional meet and have a team GPA of 3.10 or above.
Additionally, five Trinity women were named to the All-Academic Team as individuals. Melissa Whitman, Natalie Geisler, Allison Hill, and Molly McCullough, and Laura Taylor qualified for the women's squad. Honorees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher and finished in the top 25% of their respective Regional meet.
McCullough represented Trinity at the NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championships. She finished in 65th place at the 6k event, crossing the finish line with a personal-best time of 21:43.7. McCullough made Trinity history, as no other Tiger sophomore runner has finished better at Nationals.
At the NCAA South/Southeast Regional, McCullough and her teammates placed fifth out of 27 teams. Individually, McCullough was the runner-up in a field of 213 competitors. Melissa Whitman and Laura Taylor also joined McCullough on the All-Region Team. The Tiger men posted an eighth-place finish at the South/Southeast Regional. A total of 29 teams competed.
Trinity's men's and women's cross country teams are led by Head Coach Emily Daum, who has completed three years at the helm.
