Box Score San Antonio - The honors keep coming for Trinity senior Molly McCullough who was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Elite 19 award winner on Saturday.
The SCAC Elite 19 is presented to a student-athlete who has at least a 3.25 grade point average and earns All-SCAC honors during the season. The talented McCullough met the criteria, and more.
McCullough won the SCAC Women's Cross Country Championship in Kerrville, Texas, on Saturday and earned SCAC Runner of the Year accolades. Her first-place time of 21:51.98 is Trinity's fourth-fastest in meet history and the ninth overall at the conference championship. McCullough also made the All-SCAC Team for the fourth time in her career.
Academically, McCullough is an engineering science major, and last spring, McCullough was elected to the Google Cloud NCAA Division III Academic All-District 8 Women's Track/Cross Country Team. She has twice qualified for the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team and has been a member of Trinity's Dean's List and the SCAC Academic Honor Roll.
In the fall of 2017, McCullough became the third All-American in Trinity cross country history with a 38th place finish at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships. The versatile McCullough just missed All-America kudos at the NCAA Track & Field Championships with a ninth-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase the following spring. She garnered USTFCCCA All-South/Southeast Region accolades in the steeplechase and the 5,000 meters race.
Trinity's men's and women's teams won the SCAC Cross Country titles for the second year in a row. The Tigers are led by fifth-year Head Coach Emily Daum, who now has three SCAC men's titles and two women's crowns to her credit.
The Tiger women and men will compete November 10 at the NCAA South/Southeast Region Cross Country Championships at Mount Berry, Georgia.
