Trinity Cross Country Sweeps SCAC Runner of the Week Honors

Box Score

San Antonio - Trinity seniors Elliot Blake and Molly McCullough have been selected as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Cross Country Men's and Women's Runners of the Week.

Blake and McCullough sparked their teams' strong performances last weekend at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival at Fayetteville, Arkansas. Led by fifth-year Head Coach Emily Daum, the Tiger women's team finished 18th and the men came in at #22 in the University of Arkansas-hosted event. Many of the teams were members of the NCAA Division I.

McCullough earned SCAC Runner of the Week accolades for the second time this season. In the Chile Pepper 5k race McCullough placed 15th in a field 425 runners. McCullough crossed the finish line in 17:49.4, a mere .2 seconds behind her personal-best time established last year at the Chile Pepper Festival. Her latest time is now the third-fastest at the distance in Trinity history.

Blake placed 52nd in a field of some 440 student-athletes in the 8k event. His time of 25:50.51 was a personal-best performance.

Trinity's men's and women's teams will next compete October 6 at the University of the Incarnate Word (TX) Invitational, to be held at Live Oak City Park in the San Antonio area.
