Trinity Cross Country Earns Academic Honors from USTFCCCA

San Antonio - The Trinity men's and women's cross country teams and individuals have earned academic honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The 2018 Tiger squads have been designated as USTFCCCA NCAA Division III All-Academic Teams. For a team to be considered, it must have scored at an NCAA Regional meet and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.10. Trinity's women registered a GPA of 3.44, while the men came in at 3.14.

Six Trinity runners received individual All-Academic Team kudos. Student-athletes must have a GPA of at least 3.30 and finish in the top 25% of their Regional Championship meets to be eligible.

Senior Molly McCullough earned women's All-Academic recognition for the fourth consecutive year, while classmate Allison Hill made the team for the second time. Junior Laura Taylor is now a three-time All-Academic recipient, and junior Brianna Ratliff earned the distinction for the second occasion.

Sophomore Harry Bellow received the men's honor for the second year in a row, while fellow sophomore Keaton Holt is a first-time honoree.

McCullough placed 21st at the NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championship and became Trinity's first back-to-back cross country All-American. She finished as runner-up at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional Championships and won the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference title. McCullough was tabbed as the SCAC Cross Country Women's Runner of the Year and also won the conference Elite 19 Award, which recognizes student-athletes for both academic and athletic excellence.

Ratliff placed 16th at the women's Regional, and Taylor crossed the finish line in 21st place, as both garnered All-Region honors. Hill turned in a 46th-place performance.

Bellow finished 22nd at the Region meet for All-Region accolades, and Holt missed the qualification by six slots after placing 41st.

The Tiger women took fourth place at the Regional, while Trinity's men finished in seventh place. Trinity's teams also won the SCAC Championships for the second consecutive time. Head Coach Emily Daum was elected SCAC Men's and Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year for the second time in a row.
