Box Score

San Antonio – Five former Tiger runners were selected to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference's 30th Anniversary men's cross country team.

Chass Armstrong, Elliot Blake, Austin Brown, Michael Erickson, and Taylor Piske were the honorees from Trinity University. For the full team, click on the SCAC release. Portions of that story are also included here.

Armstrong earned All-SCAC honors three times in his career, including top-five finishes at the SCAC Championships in 2007 and 2008. He was also a four-time All-Region performer for the Tigers, including a 12th-place finish in 2007. He helped Trinity to third place at the 2009 USTFCCCA South/Southeast Regional Championships, and he graduated with the third-fastest 8K time in school history (currently seventh).

Blake was the 2018 SCAC Men's Runner of the Year as a senior in 2018, earning All-SCAC recognition for the third time in his career. In 2018, Blake finished ninth at the Regional meet to earn a trip to the NCAA Championships. Blake also led the team to three SCAC Championships in his career and holds the fourth-fastest 8K time in school history.

Brown is the only one of Trinity's honorees (and one of just two total runners on the Anniversary team) to finish in the top five in all four SCAC Championship races in his career, including a runner-up finish in 2016. He also helped the Tigers to a pair of SCAC Championships, as well as earning All-Region honors on three different occasions.

Erickson earned All-SCAC honors four times in his career, finishing in the top five three times – including runner-up honors in 2015 and 2017 when he led Trinity to SCAC team titles. He also garnered All-Region accolades in 2015 when the team finished third overall.

Piske was the SCAC Freshman of the Year in 2012, then capped his career by earning the Runner of the Year honors in 2015. He helped Trinity win three SCAC Championships in his career – including the program's first-ever title in 2012. Piske nabbed All-Region honors in each of his four seasons with the Tigers, finishing in sixth place in 2015 and leading Trinity to a third-place team finish. He also ranks fifth in school history with his top career time in the 8K.

The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference will be announcing 30th Anniversary teams in 21 sports throughout the 2020-21 academic year. The league selected 15th Anniversary teams during the 2005-06 academic year – those selections can be found here.

The SCAC's 30th Anniversary teams were selected through balloting by present coaches in each sport as well as administrators. Athletes who participated in conference competition between the fall of 2005 through the spring of 2020 and had been named to at least two All-SCAC teams and/or were a selected as a Player-of-the-Year in their respective sport were eligible for selection.

Trinity's men's and women's teams are led by Emily Daum '09, who is in the midst of her seventh season at the helm of both programs. She has guided at least one runner to the NCAA Championships in five of her first six seasons, has combined for five SCAC Championships in her tenure as the head coach, and has also been named the SCAC Coach of the Year on five occasions. In 2017, she was honored as the USTFCCCA Women's Cross Country South/Southeast Region Coach of the Year after leading the Tigers to first place at the Regional Championships.
