San Antonio - Trinity senior women's cross country and track & field standout Brianna Ratliff has been awarded an NCAA Ethnic Minority Graduate Scholarship.

Ratliff will receive a $10,000 award to be used during the 2020-21 academic year. She will earn her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology next month from Trinity and plans to pursue graduate studies at Texas A&M University at San Antonio. Her field of study will be kinesiology, with a future goal of becoming a collegiate cross country coach.

The talented student-athlete has qualified for Trinity's Dean's List, the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team, and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Fall and Spring Academic Honor Roll.

Last fall, Ratliff competed in the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships for the second time in her career. She finished 95th in the 6k race at Louisville, Kentucky, a huge improvement from her 2017 appearance at Nationals during which she crossed the finish line in 211th place. Ratliff helped her team finish in 16th place overall.

Earlier, Ratliff placed 10th at the 2019 NCAA Cross Country South/Southeast Regional at Memphis, Tennessee, marking the second consecutive year she earned All-Region accolades. 

Ratliff has also had success at the SCAC Cross Country Country Championships, finishing second and third to earn All-SCAC honors each of the past two seasons. She was also a second-place finisher in the 5,000 meters race at the 2018 SCAC Track & Field Championships.

Ratliff's cross country Head Coach, Emily Daum '09, was the recipient of the Ethnic and Minority Scholarship in 2009. The former Emily Loeffler also received the NCAA Etnic Minority Women's Internship Grant.

Ratliff hails from San Antonio and graduated from Madison High School in 2016.
