DALLAS, TX - Trinity Cross Country is running local for the last time this season, reuniting after splitting into two teams two weeks prior. The Tigers will run their final Texas race for the season on October 17th. Heading to the DBU Old Glory Gallop, which will take place in Dallas, they will hope to follow in a cold front that should temper the course into a prime racing opportunity. With just one meet left until championship season and the chance to defend their conference titles, the Tigers will hope to end the regular season strong.
The men's team will get their chance first, heading to the start line at 8:15. This will be another opportunity for the young squad to gain experience as they head into the tail end of the season. Having suffered the rolling hills of Minnesota, the Tigers will enjoy the opportunity to stretch their legs on a revamped DBU course that posted fast times the year before. The Tiger men will hope to take advantage of a fast course and cooler weather to build confidence heading into the most important part of their season.
The women's race will follow the men's, starting at 9:15. While the men will be running another 8k, the women will find themselves running a 5k for the second time this season. They will head into the Conference 6k having raced the full distance only once in their season. It will be a bounce back opportunity for the Tigers, and another chance to perfect the pack running that saw them to nationals the year prior. With the opportunity to race in an environment that allows them to leverage the tactical acumen that their strong group of upper-classmen have garnered, they will surely expect to settle any doubts heading into Conference.
When they return, the Tigers will have two weeks until championship racing begins, which will see the Tigers head to Sewanee, Tennessee. There they will face off against the best the SAA has to offer; likely Rhodes College, ranked 4th in the South Region for the women, and Barry, ranked 6th in the South. The Tigers will travel to Tennessee with high hopes of retaining their championship titles, and cementing their cross country excellence in their new conference.
